ACTIVITIES THAT WILL ENCOURAGE CURIOSITY IN KIDS
Survey 1
In this informative era we, adults, perceive kids as the smarty minions who are exposed to the digital world. True that the Gen Z and Gen Alpha students are ahead of the times as they get the opportunity to plunge into the information pool. However, questions may arise whether all kinds of activities in the digital world are IQ stimulants. No, not all activities make children explorers.
I have seen two categories of modern age parents-one category really reluctant to believe that the digital world can do any good to their children, for the parents want to nurture their fixed mindset path of following what has been proven right in their times. Well, there is an opposing category who would want to leave the imprint of modern age progressive parents in conceiving the teaching-learning path to be digitized.
Whichever category you belong to, I strongly feel that the starting point of triggering curiosity in the child’s mind is to help the child in exploring the real life happenings through lessons. Trust me, it does not matter whether the child writes on paper with a pencil or types on a smart pad-the real key to trigger a thirst of learning lies in the creative tools which a school must adopt in connecting lessons with life. The best way to make this happen is through the art of design thinking-thinking by creating a design map in the child’s mind.
While schools are exploring tools to encourage curiosity, The Green School Bangalore (TGSB) is working with its heart and soul towards progressive thinking, not only in terms of igniting inquisitiveness but also making learning happen through the art of mapping simulations with the prototypes. This is one of the most creative curiosity tools, I believe.
